McKean Rehabilitation Centre (Thailand)

McKean Senior Centre (formerly McKean Rehabilitation Centre) is located near Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. McKean has a rich history, having been founded in the 1908 as a leprosy colony, and developing throughout the years into a holistic care provider for people affected by leprosy, people with disabilities, members of persecuted minorities and elderly people.

McKean provides leprosy treatment and comprehensive rehabilitation services, in both hospital-based and community-based projects. The goal is that patients will be empowered to have quality of life and acceptance in their own homes and communities, achieving their maximum potential in mobility, independent living, productivity and self-support.

We source a number of products from McKean’s onsite handicrafts workshop, where people affected by leprosy and disability are employed.
