Shreya's Story: How The Leprosy Mission is Giving Patients a Helping Hand - Literally (Gift of LoveImpact)

Leprosy is a disease that not only affects the body but also the mind. It carries a stigma that often leads to discrimination and isolation, as was the case for Shreya, a young girl from a remote village in Nepal. Shreya was denied access to education because of her condition, and her future looked bleak. However, thanks to the support of people like you, Shreya's life has been transformed.

At the age of 16, Shreya was diagnosed with leprosy and referred to The Leprosy Mission's Anandaban Hospital in Kathmandu. The hospital provides specialized care for leprosy patients, including reconstructive surgery for those who have been affected by the disease. Shreya underwent surgery on her left hand, which was a success, and most recently, her right hand has also been operated on.

The surgery would not have been possible without the generosity of people like you, who support The Leprosy Mission's work. Your Gifts of Love are more than just a helping hand; they are a lifeline for people like Shreya. She has been staying at the hospital for the past four months and will continue to receive physiotherapy and support for at least another two months.

Shreya's story is just one example of the incredible work that The Leprosy Mission is doing to help leprosy patients around the world. With your support, we can provide vital care and support to those affected by leprosy, helping to give them a better future.

Shreya's biggest wish is to go back to school, but without the money for fees, it seems like a distant dream. However, we hope that with the help of kind supporters like you, Shreya's dream can become a reality. Your support can help to break down the barriers that leprosy patients face and give them the chance to live a full and happy life.

So, let's make a new resolution to give Gifts of Love today and help more children like Shreya. You can give them a helping hand - and maybe even two!
