In memory of one of Leprosy Mission Australia's longest serving supporters (Impact)

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Margaret Callister, one of Leprosy Mission Australia's longest serving and most passionate supporters.

For over 65 years, Margaret dedicated herself to the mission of ending leprosy and restoring dignity to those affected. Through faithful giving, prayer and advocacy, Margaret helped fuel lasting change for people impacted by leprosy around the world.

Margaret often reflected on the extraordinary medical advancements she’d witnessed, especially the development of Multi-Drug Therapy.

She believed deeply in the vision of a world with zero leprosy transmission, zero disability, and zero discrimination, calling it “remarkable that a charity is working towards its own eradication.”

She went on to say that "it will be a great day when leprosy is eradicated and the discrimination people with leprosy receive is stopped."

Her passion also led her to include a gift in her Will. "I'm helping eradicate leprosy with my support," she says.

Leaving behind a legacy of compassion and hope—one that will continue to impact lives for generations to come. We honour her memory and give thanks for the extraordinary difference she made.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Margaret's family and loved ones during this time. We honour her memory and give thanks for the extraordinary difference she made.
